An image with only two colors.
Bitmap
An image containing only raster information.
CMYK
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. A color printing system that

Dithering
A method of displaying colours that are not available on
a printer/monitor etc. The illusions of created by mixing available
colours.
DPI
Dot Per Inch. Numbers of dots per one inch.
EPS
Encapsulated PostScript. A printer/image description language.

Different platforms like PC, Mac, UNIX interpret color values slightly
different. An images that look dark on a PC might look bright on
a Mac.
The Gamma Correction is a way to explain how to an image should
be displayed.

Graphics Interchange Format. See GIF
Halftone
A gray scale image represented by bi level information.
Interlacing
Also known as progressive display. Both GIF, JPG and
TIFF has supported this features since about 1990.

LPI
Line Per Inch. A measure on how man lines of raster dots a printer
can print.
PDL
Page Description Language.
Pixels
A short name for Pixel Element. The smallest part that can
be displayed on a monitor.
Pixel Depth
Represent the numbers of colors.
PostScript
An image language that describes how an image should be
displayed primarily on a printer.
RGB
Red, Green and Blue. A way to represent color and a data monitor.
