What is the difference between a corporate icon and illustration?

There is a big difference between a corporate icon and an illustration. Corporate icons are very simple , which makes them unique and memorable and highly recognizable from any distance and at any size. Illustrations are usually very complicated artwork that looses quality when reduced in a size or from the distance. We highly recommend against using a detailed illustration as part of a logo design!
